On the other hand, agricultural modernization and the decline in open-air farming have contributed to the <\/span><\/span><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\">reduction of permanent grasslands <\/span><\/span><\/strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\">and, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\">consequently<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\">, to the disappearance of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\">hedgerows<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\">. Finally, <\/span><\/span><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\">growing<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\"> urbanization <\/span><\/span><\/strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW184744151 BCX2\">contributes to the reduction of agricultural land.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, the scarcity of hedgerows currently seems to be slowing down <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">thanks to growing environmental awareness, including <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">replanting policies<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. For example, the French government&#8217;s objective through its &#8220;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.economie.gouv.fr\/plan-de-relance\/mesures\/programme-plantons-des-haies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u202f<\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.economie.gouv.fr\/plan-de-relance\/mesures\/programme-plantons-des-haies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><b><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Plantons des haies<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economie.gouv.fr\/plan-de-relance\/mesures\/programme-plantons-des-haies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><b><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">!<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/a> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8221; initiative was to achieve the planting of <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">7,000 km of hedgerows over the period 2021-2022<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With regard to the distribution of hedgerows in France, it can be pointed out that <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the western regions <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">such as Normandy, Brittany and the Pays de la Loire have a fairly high density of hedgerows in comparison with other regions such as Hauts-de-France or Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
